WORDPRESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

ACF development.
Built for editors.

Custom ACF WordPress development gives your team focused fields for everyday updates. We use Advanced Custom Fields to organise page content, reusable sections and shared records, while the theme keeps the approved layout consistent.

SCOPE AND DELIVERABLES

What goes into
your build.

01 / CONTENT STRUCTURE

Give each item one home

Start with the editing task: add a project once, select it where needed and update its details in one record. Our own website uses shared project records for the portfolio, page sections for local copy and native WordPress posts for articles.

  • Map content types and relationships before building
  • Use repeatable fields for actual lists and cards
  • Keep article writing in the native WordPress editor

02 / PAGE EDITING

One content field, one clear editing task

On this site, Hero → Introduction owns the opening paragraph. Editors change that field once; the template uses the saved text on desktop and mobile and controls the layout. The screenshot shows a saved demonstration on a draft of this service page.

Our own ACF editor, captured on 7 October 2026 in a draft. The blue outline marks Hero → Introduction. This field supplies the paragraph; the template controls its layout.
  • Content and section settings kept together
  • Reusable layouts with focused controls
  • No duplicate text fields for desktop and mobile

03 / THEME DEVELOPMENT

Build templates around real content

The theme turns structured fields into semantic page markup. Empty optional content should disappear cleanly; long text and extra rows should remain usable. Use the blank content-model worksheet to record each field’s owner, reuse, empty state and acceptance checks before agreeing the build.

  • Responsive layouts that grow with content
  • Media Library image ownership and alt text
  • Validation for required headings and links

04 / HANDOVER

Leave a manageable website

We agree the editing tasks to demonstrate at handover, such as replacing an image, adding a project or reordering a list. Guidance explains where each item lives, what editors can change and which layout or feature changes need development.

  • Editing guidance for the agreed content types
  • Plugin and licence responsibilities documented
  • Backup and deployment responsibilities, with ongoing support scoped separately
Use the handover checklist
BEFORE WE START

Start with content.
Then choose the fields.

Send the page designs, a list of editing tasks and examples of current content. We review shared records, field groups, templates and any migration or integrations, then quote the agreed build. Existing ACF sites can start with a scoped review of the editor and templates.

  • List the people who will edit and their tasks
  • Identify information reused across several pages
  • Bring short, long and empty content examples
  • Confirm whether content must be migrated from an existing site
COMMON PROJECT QUESTIONS

Can you improve an existing ACF website?

Yes. We can start with a scoped review of the existing fields, templates and editing tasks. We identify where the theme renders each field, which records are shared, and whether custom code or integrations are involved. A focused field or template change may be enough; a full rebuild is a separate decision.

Before changes, agree staging access, backups, content migration checks and a rollback plan. The quote records what will change, what must stay intact, and who owns licences and ongoing updates.

Need a better WordPress editing workflow?

Show us the content your team updates and where editing is difficult. Include your site or design link, shared content and any migration needs. We’ll agree the content model, deliverables and price before development starts.
